Fr Brendan O'Rourke C.Ss.R reflects

on the gifts we can all give and receive which cost nothing, yet could change a life

Gospel Reflection 1st Sunday of Advent

Volunteers needed to distribute gifts to the Jospice patients

Anita and Natasha thought that during Advent they could do an Advent calendar of prayer intentions. They are posting the intentions on their facebook page Natasha Anita RYM - they are always happy to welcome new friends.

Below are the prayer in intentions to date

11th December

This is one very close to our hearts - the homeless - especially as we're having terrible weather. Spare a thought and a prayer for those we've met, and those we are yet to meet, who may be sleeping in the cold tonight.

10th December

Tonighat's prayer intention is for all children - especially those living in poverty, or those without families

9th December

We've both been on a lovely retreat this weekend - the first of many together! So our prayer intention comes better late than never. Tonight we pray for all who are lonely - may they find comfort in the Lord

8th December

Today's Advent prayer intention: we pray for our government, and the leaders of the world; that they may be blessed with wisdom, compassion, and a love of peace.

7th December

Today's Advent prayer intention is for the environment. May God increase our knowledge and help us to care for our world.

6th December

Our Advent prayer intention today is for an increase of faith. May the Lord sustain us in our faith, and help us to grow closer to Him.

5th December

Today's Advent prayer intention is for those who work in dangerous countries or jobs. May God guide them and keep them safe.

4th December

Today's Advent calendar of prayer - we pray for all who are lost and searching for meaning in life.

3rd December

Today's prayer intention is for all of those who have nobody else to pray for them. Please join us in including them in your daily prayer

The Metropolitan Cathedral's Annual appeal for toiletries, nightwear, toys for children, chocolates and other new items for the Women’s Refuge has started once again. Please consider popping a little bit extra in for these families who have been through a tough time and who have fled from their homes with nothing. It is hard to imagine isn’t it?  Thankyou

The next meeting of the Cathedral Book Club will be on Thursday 14 December at 7.00pm when The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett. will be discussed . All welcome. Any queries contact Claire at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
