Monday 18th June

Please note MONDAY rather than Tuesday for this one-off special. It's the first England game of the World Cup - England v Tunisia at 19:00. We thought we'd meet at the Halfway House at the earlier time of 6 pm, have some food and watch the match together. For those of you who can't make Mondays, or would prefer something spiritual on the Tuesday as usual, please just let us know and we will plan something for Tuesday too, as we don't want anyone to feel unincluded!

Saturday 23rd June - it's the Northern Catholic Conference at Hope University.

We're getting involved with a session for the teenagers, and it's always a great weekend for Catholics of all ages to explore aspects of their faith, so why not think about popping in?

Sunday 24th June - Mass, Sunday lunch and football.

Meet at Bishop Eton for 11:30 Mass, then we will go to the Halfway House afterwards for food and watch the England v Panama game at 13:00. Please note that as Mass will finish just 30 minutes before kick off, there's a chance we may not get a seat and will have to resort to a plan B and go elsewhere or abandon our lunch plans. But it's Mass that's the important part, right?

Choirs in the Vatican

The event is open to choirs, organists, musicians, but tickets are limited

EUCHARIST AND SAINT ALPHONSUS

AdoremusmultionwhiteIn the run-up to Adoremus 2018, the Maryton Carmelite convent is running a series of talks. on the 27th May Fr Tim was honoured to speak on the Eucharist and St Alphonsus. If you did not manage to attend the majority of his talk is reproduced below

Last weekend at the Royal Wedding in Windsor we had a remarkable demonstration of the power of the preached Word of God. I cannot remember a Christian sermon receiving such universal acclaim across the religious, political and social spectrums. And for me, what was most striking was the simplicity of the message, going to the heart of the Gospel of love. Bishop Michael Curry had been flown in especially for the occasion and some suggested that he stole the show and was the ‘man of the match’.

BELL: Bishop Eton Lending Library, meet this   Wednesday 6 June, in the Hughes Room 2.00pm—4.00pm. Do come along and see the selection of books, borrow and have a chat. Refreshments will be available. All welcome.

The Women’s Group will meet on Tuesday 12 June at 7.00pm in the Fisher-More Hall. All welcome.

DIOCESAN LOURDES PILGRIMAGE: Everyone cannot go on the pilgrimage itself, but Fr Des Seddon, the organiser, is keen that we should all be associated with it. His letters are in the porch and I urge you to note his various suggestions
