FIVE STAR SHOW

Would You Adam and Eve it?

What will you be doing between 15 June–3 July this year? I know, it's a long way ahead. Let me paint a picture... Imagine yourself sitting comfortably, with your favourite beverage in hand, laughing your head off at one of the wisecracks from double act David Robinson and Michael Taylor. David and Michael, who make up Searchlight Theatre, won a 5* review for their performance of Would You Adam And Eve It? at the Edinburgh Fringe festival. The show is a 90-minute dramatisation of the first 90 chapters of the Bible (that's Genesis and Exodus, in case you were wondering).

They would like to take this show to as many people across the nation as possible between 15 June–3 July, and it would be great if one of our churches in South Liverpool can host it.    Visit the Bible Society Website for more info and a form to register your interest.

Volunteers to teach English  (to asylum seekers and refugees in Toxteth L8)

We are looking for volunteers to help teach 'drop-in' English to asylum seekers and refugees, many of whom have come to the UK with little, or no, verbal or written English skills. Previous teaching experience would be desirable, but is by no means essential. The most important thing is that you come with a good attitude, and a willingness to help others.
Because the lessons are drop-in we do not work from a curriculum, although we have some lesson materials which volunteers can choose to work from, these cover topics such as ‘meeting people’, ‘at the Doctor’s’ and ‘food’. We also have very basic material, such as the alphabet, for absolute beginners.
Please get in touch with us if you are interested, or for more information!

Time commitment: The lessons take place at our office in Toxteth (L8) every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 1-2.30pm. We are looking for volunteers who can ideally commit to one or more days a week.
