Goodbye from Fr Desmond. May I take this opportunity to say a very sincere thank you for the privilege of serving the parish of Our Lady of The Annunciation, Bishop Eton, for the past nine years. Thank you for all the kindness, support and generosity of the parish to me over the years. I am truly grateful for this very blessed time in my life as a Redemptorist priest serving this wonderful parish community. I wish Father Richard, Father Tim, Father Barrie and all the community every joy, blessing and success in the time ahead.
Goodbye to Fr Desmond. On behalf of all the parishioners and the Redemptorist community I wish to thank Fr Desmond for his faithful service of the parish during the past nine years. We wish him every happiness and success in Edinburgh and assure him of our prayers. Tim Buckley C.Ss.R.

Bishops' Conference prayer for the Royal Wedding
Heavenly Father, we ask your blessing upon his Royal Highness, Prince William, and upon Catherine, as they pledge their love for each other in marriage. May your love unite them through their lives.
Grant them the strength to serve you, our country and the Commonwealth, with integrity and faithfulness.
We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
AWAY DAYS: This week I will be away from Tuesday morning until Saturday evening. Firstly I have to oversee the voting for the next Provincial Chapter of the Redemptorists, which will meet in January. Then I am fortunate to be one of a small group from the Province attending the Mass to welcome Cardinal Vincent Nichols to the church of San Alfonso in Rome on Thursday evening.
The crucifix on our War Memorial has recently been renovated by Mr Fulcher and his team of helpers.
On Sunday the third of August, after the 11.30 Mass, the Memorial Crucifix was blessed and there was a short service to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.
In 2011 the Bishops of England and Wales asked us all to renew our commitment to Friday abstinence.
The hope being that by uniting in a common form of penance, we will support one another and witness to the wider world our desire to be united with Christ in his Passion.
This commitment began on Friday 16 September 2011, which marked the first anniversary of Pope Benedict’s visit.
