When we give thanks at Mass, the past is renewed, the present is transformed, and the future is made already present. In this thanksgiving, hope is generated by recalling past mercies. What we know from the past of the power and love of God gives us confidence in the continued mercy of God despite whatever may be going on in our lives to try us
Service of Tenebrae - Metropolitan Cathedral 25th March 7.30-8.30pm
The word Tenebrae is Latin for “shadows” and refers to the gradual extinguishing of candles and lights as this service proceeds.
The choir will sing responsories by the French composer Tomas Luis de Victoria, followed by Gregorio Allegri’s Miserere mei, Dues.
EASTER ACTIVITY CAMP
An Easter Activity Camp will be held in Allerton Tower Park, Woolton by Merseyside Youth Challenge Trust from 26 March to 6 April, 9:00am – 4:00pm(excluding the 2 Bank Holidays). If you are interested in booking a place the cost is £20.00 per day children must be a minimum 8 years of age up to a max of 14. WANT TO BE PART OF SOMETHING AMAZING?
In February 2017, a group from St Peter’s Church – Woolton visited a project in Curitiba, Brazil that they support. Encontro com Deus (ECD) works to rebuild lives and families impacted by, or at risk from domestic violence and abuse. Another trip is being planned for February 2019 and this time the intention is to build a group that includes people from other churches in the area. Thank you to Dr John Williams for his summary of our Women’s World Day of Prayer Service and Jenny Holden for notes on the March Walk. We are pleased to welcome Fr. David Blowey as Parochial Administrator at St Anthony of Padua. He replaces Fr. Gerald Hicks who has been transferred to a Friary in Manchester.
We are very excited to invite you to save the date, Saturday 1st September 2018, in your calendar as the day we commemorate and begin our celebrations for the 50th year anniversary of the establishment of VMM.
