The Experiences of the Romanian Roma Community and its Holocaust. Merseyside Council of Christians and Jews  7.30pm

Liverpool Reform Synagogue, Church Road North, L15 6TF.
August 2nd is the date of the liquidation of the 'Gypsy Camp' in Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1944.  But the 20,000 Sinti and Roma who died in Auschwitz represent only a fraction of the numbers of 'Gypsies' who suffered.

Professor Eve Rosenhaft will offer an account of the wartime events focussing on Romania and deportation of 25,000 Roma to Transnistria. Alexandra Bahor, community liaison officer with the Granby Toxteth Development Trust, whose grandparents remember the deportation, will talk about its long-term impacts and the situation of Roma in Europe and the UK today’.

This is a rare opportunity to hear about these events with Q&A..All Welcome. There is no charge for this event but donations are always appreciated.
