Volunteers to teach English to asylum seekers and refugees in Toxteth L8

We are looking for volunteers to help teach 'drop-in' English to asylum seekers and refugees, many of whom have come to the UK with little, or no, verbal or written English skills. Previous teaching experience would be desirable, but is by no means essential. The most important thing is that you come with a good attitude, and a willingness to help others.
Because the lessons are drop-in we do not work from a curriculum, although we have some lesson materials which volunteers can choose to work from, these cover topics such as ‘meeting people’, ‘at the Doctor’s’ and ‘food’. We also have very basic material, such as the alphabet, for absolute beginners.

Please get in touch with us if you are interested, or for more information!

Time commitment: The lessons take place at our office in Toxteth (L8) every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 1-2.30pm. We are looking for volunteers who can ideally commit to one or more days a week.
