Masses: Please remember that during the month of August there will be no 7.00am Mass. This will commence on Monday 30 July.

There is an important statement from the Bishops of England and Wales regarding child abuse. Copies are available in the porch.

The Parish supports Nugent Care via a blue box scheme. The boxes are collected and emptied once a year. If you would like a blue Box please contact the Parish Office.

  • Any types of coin or notes welcomed.
  • All proceeds to Nugent Care
  • Please hand in any unwanted money to the Parish Office in an envelope marked Funny Money.

 

 

 

Zimbabwe Half Marathon Appeal. 

Thirteen competitors completed the course on March 29th 2009 in under two hours. They  have raised a remarkable total of £5,045.53 for Zimbabwe.

AWAY DAYS: This week I will be away from Tuesday morning until Saturday evening. Firstly I have to oversee the voting for the next Provincial Chapter of the Redemptorists, which will meet in January. Then I am fortunate to be one of a small group from the Province attending the Mass to welcome Cardinal Vincent Nichols to the church of San Alfonso in Rome on Thursday evening.

The crucifix on our War Memorial has recently been renovated by Mr Fulcher and his team of helpers.

On Sunday the third of August, after the 11.30 Mass,  the Memorial Crucifix was blessed and there was a short service to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. 

 

In 2011 the Bishops of England and Wales asked us all to renew our commitment to Friday abstinence.

 

The hope being that by uniting in a common form of penance, we will support one another and witness to the wider world our desire to be united with Christ in his Passion.

 

This commitment began on Friday 16 September 2011, which marked the first anniversary of Pope Benedict’s visit.

Fr Desmond wishes to thank everyone for their messages of sympathy on the death of his mother.  Fr Tim, Mrs Bostock (head of Our Lady’s, Bishop Eton School) and a number of parishioners were present at the funeral last Thursday.
