Laetare Sunday: Today we reach the halfway point in Lent and the Church invites us to take a breather. The entry antiphon is from Isaiah and tells us to “rejoice…be joyful…exult.”

Happily it is also Mothering Sunday, so we greet all our mothers and thank you not just for all you do, but for the people you are… I hope the family spoils you today!

Visiting the housebound: This year the priests are hoping to visit all those who are housebound in our parishes and offer them the sacraments. It has not been possible to organise the Anointing Masses, organised by the SVP, in Lent this year, so we will celebrate those Masses during the Easter Season.

The funeral of Sr Catherine Hughes SND will be on   Thursday 30 March at 1.15pm.

In her time Sister Catherine was Superior General of the Notre Dame Sisters, Provincial in this country, and Principal of the College in Mount Pleasant.

Servers and the Chrism Mass: If any altar servers wish to come to the Chrism Mass in the Cathedral on the Wednesday evening of Holy Week, please inform the office during the coming week and we will make the necessary arrangements.

The Funeral of Thomas Hughes RIP will take place on Monday 27 March at 12.00 noon.

The Funeral of Kathleen Hamilton RIP will take place on Tuesday 28 March at 12.00 noon.

Friends of the Holy Land Mass for peace and justice for our fellow Christians in the Holy Land will take place on Saturday 1 April at 12.00 midday.

Parish Quiz Night next Saturday 1 April at 8.00pm for 8.30pm start. All welcome.

SVP monthly collection will take place after all Masses next weekend. Thank you for your generosity.

Parish Coffee Morning next Sunday after the 10.00am Mass.  Also, the Repository with all profits going to Project Zimbabwe.

Women's Group: St Mary's and Bishop Eton Women's Group Meeting at 12.30pm, Tuesday 28 March in Fisher-More Hall.

Bishop Eton is very generous in the donations to MISSIO. Last year we raised £7832. To continue with our work we are greatly in need of collectors. If you would be willing to help collect from a small group of box holders three times a year, please ring Ann Monaghan on 737 1599, Dave Hart 722 4656 or leave your details at the parish office.

Vision Aid Overseas: Please leave your old/unwanted glasses in the box provided in the porch.

Gift Aid Scheme: Boxes of offertory envelopes for 2017/18 will be available at the back of Church today. If you would like to be part of the scheme please ask as you leave. Special collection envelopes will be available on request for those who pay by standing order.

Stations of the Cross: We will meet on Fridays at 2.00pm. All welcome. Details can be found in the porch.

 Divine Mercy Prayer Group will be meeting during Lent to pray the Stations of the Cross and Chaplet on Fridays at 7.30pm, excluding Good Friday.

Please note there will be no recitation of the rosary during Holy Week – 1015 April 2017.

Cafod:Colette Byrne will give a short talk about Cafod's work in Ethiopia at a simple lunch in the parish hall of St Anthony of Padua, on Thursday 6 April 12.45pm-13.45pm.

Project Zimbabwe will be holding an Abba night on Saturday 8 April in the Fisher-More hall. Tickets £12.00. Please see details in the porch or on the website. Tickets on sale after Masses today.

Bro. James from SFX is visiting Japan and Indonesia with students this Easter. Please leave donations of second hand football shirts and other sports gear of any size, in the box at the back of Church.

Talking Newspaper

The Liverpool talking newspaper is a facility for the blind whereby audio memory sticks are created and distributed every month by post to members of the blind community in Liverpool. It relies on the help of volunteers and is looking for new members to attend a recording studio in Speke to read items of information to include on the memory stick. There is also a need for new recording technicians. Training will be provided for anyone interested in helping. Please phone David Keane on 428 -2509 for further information

A Mass for the deaf community is held at Christ the King Church, Queens 5 Drive every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month at 4.30pm. All welcome.

Dementia Friendly:

We aspire to be a Dementia Friendly parish, the Archdiocese has arranged a one day conference by Professor June Andrews, author of Dementia The One Stop Guide.
