FROM FR TIM

HOLY WEEK: I encourage you not to let this week pass you by, but with your families and the family of the parish to   allow the Lord to enrich you and deepen your awareness of his literally loving you to death. It would be wonderful to think that in every home there will be some special moments in the day when the family will reflect together on the events that lead us to Easter Sunday and of course I urge you to join in the great ceremonies at the end of the week, which take us from the drama of Maundy Thursday and the institution of the Eucharist, through Good Friday and the Passion to the joy of the Resurrection after a patient wait on Holy Saturday.

Please note the very different timetable from the middle of the week and please also remember that Good Friday is a day of fasting and abstinence.

Reconciliation Services: Monday (St Mary’s) and Tuesday (Bishop Eton) evenings at 7.30pm.

Good Friday Collection: For the Holy Places: especially poignant again this year with so much violence and persecution of the Church in Holy Land.

Please note there will be no recitation of the rosary during Holy Week – 1015 April 2017.

Recent Deaths: Our condolences to the families of Peter Drury, Ann Sweeney and Helen Mullett, who have all died during the last week.

SVP food collection. Thank you to all Parishioners who have generously contributed over a long period of time. However, food donations have decreased significantly in recent weeks but the need is still as great. Please leave your donations at the Monastery weekdays 10.00am—6.00pm. Cans, pasta, rice and non-perishables gratefully accepted. Thank you.

Wednesday Lunch will take place on 12 April at 12.30pm in the Fisher-More Hall. All welcome. This will be a frugal lunch and money raised will go to Lenten Alms.

Bishop Eton is very generous in the donations to MISSIO. Last year we raised £7832. To continue with our work we are greatly in need of collectors. If you would be willing to help collect from a small group of box holders three times a year, please ring Ann Monaghan on 737 1599, Dave Hart 722 4656 or leave your details at the parish office.

Vision Aid Overseas: A huge thank you to those who donated. The collection will end today and has been a great  success.

Millennium Craft Group: would like to thank the Parish for the opportunity to sell Easter craft goods at the Coffee Morning last Sunday. They were delighted to raise £113.00 for the latest project, The Merseyside and Cheshire Blood Bikers, who as volunteers carry blood products and breast milk around the area so that there is no charge to the NHS.

Clothes Sale: A sale of new clothes for children, teenagers and men will be held in the Fisher-More Hall on Saturday 22 April from 10.30am to 1.00pm. Many chain store samples for just £1.00. Also coffee and cakes. All proceeds in aid of Street Child Africa with Chance for Childhood.

RHS Flower Show Tatton Park: Coach organised by Christ the King & Our Lady’s on Saturday 22 July.  Adults £33.50, under 16s £10.00. Contact CTK office for more information 722 2231.

Bro. James from SFX would like to thank everyone for donating second hand football shirts and other sports gear. The response has been tremendous. He is now on his way with the students. Please keep them all in your prayers.

Nugent Charity Shop is in urgent need of stock. If you have any unwanted items please consider donating them to their Charity Shop on Allerton Road.
