FROM FR TIM

EASTER: Once again I would like to thank all of you who made the Sacred Triduum and the Easter celebrations so special. In both parishes a remarkable number of people have commented on how spiritually uplifted they were as a result of the whole experience, which is very gratifying.

Work around the monastery: Most of the internal work in the monastery is now complete and we are enjoying our newly refurbished rooms. However, there will still be some disruption in the weeks ahead. In the first place, sadly we are having to dispose of some diseased trees and in the coming week the entrance to the monastery and all the parking area will be out of bounds. The church will be open and access to the monastery through the gates at the back. A temporary bell has been put on the back door.

Madeleine McCann: Wednesday 3 May marks the tenth  anniversary of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. As you know, her grandparents Susan and Brian Healy are faithful members of our parish community and I have promised them and her parents, Gerry and Kate and the twins, Sean and Amelie, that we will continue to support them with our prayers. Each year we have marked the anniversary with a Mass and we will do the same this year at 6.00pm on Wednesday week.

RYM: We are continuing to try and keep the young people together and there will be a meeting this Tuesday evening at the Fisher-More Hall at 7.30pm. My thanks to Patrick and Lizzie Hart for taking this initiative.

Tuesday’s meeting will be an opportunity for prayer and reflection at the end of the working day. In recognition of St George’s Day, we’ll also consider ‘changing times for English Catholicism’.Hot drinks and biscuits will be served.Hot drinks and biscuits will be served. The RYM prayer group caters primarily for young adults but all are welcome.

Comings and Goings: During the next week, Father Andrew is taking a walking holiday in Italy. As soon as he returns, I plan to get away for a break and a retreat.

6.00pm Sunday Mass. From this weekend we will be trialling the use of the Thurible during 6.00pm Mass. This is to   enable younger altar servers to see the Thurible in use more regularly and to be able to train them in its use. This will be dependant on there being enough altar servers, so the Thurible may not be used each week.

Women's Group: St Mary's and Bishop Eton Group meet on Tuesday 25 April at 12.30pm in the Fisher-More Hall. There will be an Informative talk about Youth Justice and Peace Group. Tickets will be available for the coach trip to York on 28 April, Gin tasting on 19 May and Chatsworth RHS 9 June.

Bereavement Support Group will meet on Tuesday 25 April from 2.00pm—4.00pm in the Hughes Meeting Room.

AFTERNOON TEA - The One World Group are holding an Afternoon Tea Fundraiser on Sunday 14 May in the Fisher-More Hall. Tickets are £12 which include a glass of Prosecco on arrival. Contact Cath 07866 798158 or Sara 07947 120371.

Project Zimbabwe. The ABBA fundraiser raised £880, a huge thanks to all who supported the event. Anyone who took a ‘Smarties’ tube can pass their tube  filled with coins to the parish office.

The next fundraiser will be a gig by our in house parish band Benchmark on the 26th May. Benchmark draws most of its member from the 10am and 6pm Folk groups, Frances and three young people will be travelling to Zimbabwe in June to help refurbish classrooms in the school run by the Redemptorists.

SVP food collection. Please leave your donations at the Monastery weekdays 10.00am—6.00pm. Cans, pasta, rice and non-perishables gratefully accepted. Thank you.

Paul Murphy, before leaving, began a series of Homeless Missions in Liverpool and a group of people would like to continue with this ministry. The next mission will be on Tuesday 2 May, meeting at the Metropolitan Cathedral Piazza at 7.00pm.
