Mass for Madeleine McCann and the family: Wednesday, 3 May at 6.00pm. On this tenth anniversary of her disappearance, please remember to pray not only for Madeleine, but for her parents and all the family.

Comings and goings. Fr Andrew returns in the early part of the week and I leave for a fortnight on Thursday. Fr Charles has happily agreed to deal with all the day to day matters in the two parishes, obviously supported by Frs Barrie and Andrew and the community.

6.00pm Sunday Mass. We have started trialling the use of the thurible during 6.00pm Mass in order to train our younger altar servers in its use. This will be dependent on there being enough altar servers, so the thurible may not be used each week.

The Funeral of Agnes Murphy RIP will take place on Tuesday 2 May at 12.00 noon.

J&P Youth Group will be meeting on Friday 5 May at 6.00pm in the Fisher-More Hall.

HOLY HOUR ADORATION at 7.30pm on Friday 5 May. Please come and join us.

Friends of the Holy Land Mass for peace and justice for our fellow Christians in the Holy Land will take place on Saturday 6 May at 12.00 midday.

Parish Quiz Night next Saturday 6 May at 8.00pm for 8.30pm start. All welcome.

Parish Coffee Morning next Sunday after the 10.00am Mass. Also, the Repository—with First Communion cards and gift items for sale—all profits going to Project Zimbabwe.

Annual Priests’ Training Fund collection will take place after all Masses next Sunday 7 May. Gift Aid envelopes can be found in the porch— SVP monthly collection will therefore take place after all Masses the following Sunday 14 May. Thank you for your generosity.

Homeless Mission : Paul Murphy, before leaving, began a series of Homeless Missions in Liverpool and a group of people would like to continue with this ministry. The next mission will be on Tuesday 2 May, meeting at the Metropolitan Cathedral Piazza at 7.00pm. The Annual Ecumenical Service for all people in the healthcare profession will be held in the Anglican Cathedral on Wednesday 3 May at 6.30pm. All welcome.

Ecumenical Prayer Meeting will be held at 7.30pm—8.30pm on Wednesday 10 May in the parlour of the Notre Dame Convent at Hope University Campus. Entry via the iron gates on Woolton Road opposite Bishop Eton.

Pax Christi: Saturday 6 May 10.00am-4.00pm

A  one day event led by Pat Gaffney of Pax Christi  introducing the work of the newly formed Catholic Nonviolence Initiative of which Pax Christi is a founder member.  This new initiative helped to shape the 2017 World Peace Day message, Nonviolence, a style of politics for peace.

Talking Newspaper

The Liverpool talking newspaper is a facility for the blind whereby audio memory sticks are created and distributed every month by post to members of the blind community in Liverpool. It relies on the help of volunteers and is looking for new members to attend a recording studio in Speke to read items of information to include on the memory stick. There is also a need for new recording technicians. Training will be provided for anyone interested in helping. Please phone David Keane on 428 -2509 for further information

We aspire to be a Dementia Friendly parish, the Archdiocese has arranged a one day conference by Professor June Andrews, author of Dementia The One Stop Guide.
