FROM FR TIM

First Holy Communion. As we celebrate the sacrament of First Holy Communion with our children and their families this weekend, my prayer is that they will experience the joy and wonder of the occasion. Pray for the children, pray for their families and pray for yourselves: allow the Lord to fill you with the peace and joy of his abiding presence.

World Communications Day. Next Sunday, Feast of the Ascension of the Lord, is World Communications Day, promoting the valuable work done on behalf of the Church by the communications office of the Bishops’ Conference. There will be a retiring collection after all Masses next weekend and prayer cards are available in the porch.

The Pope has released a message for World Communications Day on the Vatican Website - click here to read it.

CHURCH PARKING:

Please can everyone using the car park take extra care and adhere to the NO PARKING signs. Cars are regularly blocking access routes and parking on double yellow lines obstructing the free flow of traffic and pedestrians.

ALSO,

  • recently the concrete bollard which had only just been replaced was bumped into;
  • the wooden flower beds outside the Monastery was severely damaged, after so much hard work had gone into replanting them,
  • cars are constantly being scraped.

In most of these cases NO-ONE has informed the monastery that they have caused any damage. Please park responsibly and manoeuvre carefully to avoid damaging any property.

Our parish organist, Andrew Sharples, would be delighted to hear from anybody who feels he/she might be able to act as a Cantor at 11.30am Mass. Full training given and approximately one duty each month only. Please contact him on 722 4407 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

BENCHMARK GIG. Our own home-grown band will be performing on Friday 26 May in the Fisher-More Hall in aid of Project Zimbabwe. Tickets now on sale from Reception and after Masses. £5 for adults; £2.50 for under 18’s. Bring your own refreshments: tuck shop available and a raffle!

6.00pm Sunday Mass. We have started trialling the use of the thurible during 6.00pm Mass in order to train our younger altar servers in its use. This will be dependant on there being enough altar servers, so the thurible may not be used each week.

Each Friday the Divine Mercy Prayer group meet at 7.30pm in the Hughes Room and everyone is welcome.

SVP food collection. Please leave your donations at the Monastery weekdays 10.00am—6.00pm. Cans, pasta, rice and non-perishables gratefully accepted. Thank you.
