NOVENA IN HONOUR OF OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL SUCCOUR: MONDAY 19 JUNE TO TUESDAY 27 JUNE. We will pray the Novena Prayers at all the Masses in Bishop Eton and St Mary’s from this Monday until Tuesday Week. In view of the tragic events in our country in recent weeks, culminating in the horrific fire in West London in the early hours of last Wednesday, I suggest that a central intention should include all those who have lost their lives and those who are suffering as a result of these tragedies.

CORPUS CHRISTI. Today we celebrate the Feast of the Eucharist: a very fitting day for our First Communicants to celebrate with the parish at the 10.00am Mass. May they and their families become more and more part of the life of the parish in the months and years ahead.

Father’s Day. We wish all our fathers every blessing on this day and thank them for all they do for their families and for the family of the Church.

Please remember that priests are our spiritual Fathers. Our Pastoral Area Patron said a daily prayer for priests  we could all consider doing the same.

O Jesus, I pray for your faithful and fervent priests;
for your unfaithful and tepid priests;
for your priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission fields.
for your tempted priests;
for your lonely and desolate priests;
For your young priests;
for your dying priests;
for the souls of your priests in Purgatory.
But above all, I recommend to you the priests dearest to me:
the priest who baptized me;
the priests who absolved me from my sins;
the priests at whose Masses I assisted and who gave me Your Body and Blood in Holy Communion;
the priests who taught and instructed me;
all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way (especially …).
O Jesus, keep them all close to your heart,
and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen.

Redemptorist Youth Officer. We are looking for someone to continue the good work begun by Paul Murphy over the past few years. Anyone interested in this post, please collect a summary job description and an application form from the monastery. Closing date: 1 July.

The Lady Chapel. I am giving you prior notice that the Lady Chapel and the wall at the back of the aisle are badly in need of repair. We have managed to secure an insurance grant to replace the damaged plaster and work will commence on 31 July. Unfortunately, this will necessitate the chapel being out of use for several weeks. You will receive more information when the work is about to begin.

Please can everyone using the car park take extra care and adhere to the NO PARKING signs. Cars are regularly blocking access routes and parking on double yellow lines obstructing the free flow of traffic and pedestrians.

  • recently the concrete bollard which had only just been replaced was bumped into;
  • the wooden flower beds outside the Monastery was severely damaged, after so much hard work had gone into replanting them,
  • cars are constantly being scraped.

In most of these cases NO-ONE has informed the monastery that they have caused any damage. Please park responsiblyand manoeuvre carefully to avoid damaging any property.

Sick List.

We are finding it difficult to keep the list up to date because everyone for whom we are asked to pray is not necessarily a parishioner. It will be helpful if people recover or sadly die that you let the parish office know. We plan to tidy up the list in the coming weeks. Obviously we will keep praying for all those whom we know remain unwell, but if there is someone on the list whom you particularly wish to keep on the list and whom we may not know, please inform the parish office.

St Mary's First Holy Communions

Over sixty children will be making their First Holy Communion at St. Mary's in the coming weeks (at the 11am Masses on the 11th, 18th and 25th of this month). Please keep them and their families in your prayers.
