FROM FR TIM

FEAST OF OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL SUCCOUR: TUESDAY 27 JUNE. Our Novena comes to an end on   Tuesday. The final Mass at 7.30pm will be sung. Thank you to all those who have faithfully made the Novena, but remember it is never too late to join your prayers with everyone else’s, so let us have a wonderful final celebration on Tuesday evening.

SOLEMNITY OF SAINTS PETER AND PAUL:   THURSDAY 29 JUNE. A reminder that this is a Holyday of Obligation and there will be the extra Mass at 7.30pm as well as a vigil Mass on Wednesday at St Mary’s at 7.30pm.

RCIA (Journey in Faith). Already we have one or two people expressing their interest. I am concerned that we do not wait until the autumn before getting organised this year. Those involved know that last year’s journey stuttered and stumbled a little. Fr Charles is willing to liaise with everyone and look for ways in which we can consistently support those who may wish to come into full communion. We are also liaising with the Pastoral Area to see whether this may be a matter over which mutual support would be appreciated. Anyone  interested, please contact our parish office as soon as possible and give your contact details.

Carleton House. Archbishop Malcolm will celebrate Mass in the school on Wednesday in thanksgiving for the many years of faithful service of the retiring Headteacher, Mrs Anne Daniels. As a parish community we add our thanks to Ann and wish her a happy retirement. At the same time we wish Mrs Sandy Coleman every success as she takes over in the autumn.

Redemptorist Youth Officer. Please remember that the closing date for applications is next Saturday 1 July.

The Lady Chapel. Remember that work will begin in the chapel and at the back of the aisle on 31 July.

Comings and Goings. Fr Andrew is in Ireland at present for the European Council of Marriage Encounter. Fr Charles will be away until 3 July, enjoying a break with his family. His father turns 70 this weekend: a fine age! Please keep Fr Barrie in your prayers: he is awaiting a cataract operation and cannot drive for the time being, so we may be looking for the occasional taxi service to help him.

On the Solemnity of St Peter and Paul there will be a mandatory collection for Peter’s Pence after all Masses.

First Holy Communion—Sunday group photos: parents wishing to place an order please collect and return forms to reception at the Monastery please.

St Mary’s and Bishop Eton Women’s Group will meet in the Fisher-More Hall at 12.30pm Tuesday 27 June for a short talk "A Flavour of Italy" and shared buffet.

Friends of the Holy Land Mass for peace and justice for our fellow Christians in the Holy Land will take place on Saturday 1 July at 12.00 midday.

Parish Quiz Night next Saturday 1 July at 8.00pm for 8.30pm start. All welcome.

SVP monthly collection will take place after all Masses next weekend. Thank you for your generosity.

Parish Coffee Morning next Sunday after 10.00am Mass.

St Julie’s Catholic High School Open evening for girls in years 4 and 5 and their parents, on Thursday 29 June from 3.30pm to 6.00pm. The new school will open in September 2017 and this is an opportunity to find out what the new school facilities will offer your daughter.

Safeguarding Conference will take place on Saturday 8 July at LACE, for any parishioners, especially those who volunteer or are involved in any Parish groups. Please see poster in the porch for booking details.

The Archdiocesan Pilgrimage takes place from 21—28 July. Prayer leaflets are at the Monastery reception if you are able to contribute to the Assisted Funds please hand in your donation at Reception.

A Special concert: As part of the events marking the 50th Anniversary of the Metropolitan Cathedral a special concert will be held in the Cathedral on Saturday 7 October and are hoping to raise a Community Choir.

The programme of all British music has been devised to allow singers of different standards to participate. For those who can sight-read there will be a few Thursday evening rehearsals prior to the dress rehearsal on the day. For those who would like to come along to enjoy joining in some rousing hymns, only the dress rehearsal on the day of the concert will be necessary.  Full details in the porch and contact This email address is being protected from spambots. NUGENT HTC SUMMER FAIR

CHURCH PARKING:

Please can everyone using the car park take extra care and adhere to the NO PARKING signs. Cars are regularly blocking access routes and parking on double yellow lines obstructing the free flow of traffic and pedestrians.

ALSO,

  • recently the concrete bollard which had only just been replaced was bumped into;
  • the wooden flower beds outside the Monastery was severely damaged, after so much hard work had gone into replanting them,
  • cars are constantly being scraped.

In most of these cases NO-ONE has informed the monastery that they have caused any damage. Please park responsiblyand manoeuvre carefully to avoid damaging any property.

Sick List.

We are finding it difficult to keep the list up to date because everyone for whom we are asked to pray is not necessarily a parishioner. It will be helpful if people recover or sadly die that you let the parish office know. We plan to tidy up the list in the coming weeks. Obviously we will keep praying for all those whom we know remain unwell, but if there is someone on the list whom you particularly wish to keep on the list and whom we may not know, please inform the parish office.

St Mary's First Holy Communions

Over sixty children will be making their First Holy Communion at St. Mary's in the coming weeks (at the 11am Masses on the 11th, 18th and 25th of this month). Please keep them and their families in your prayers.
