FROM FR TIM

Last week’s attachment from the Core Team: I have seen a flurry of emails from a number of parishioners who were deeply disturbed by the tone of the guidelines on church etiquette. On reflection I agree that it could have come across as in stark contrast to the tone of my letter, distributed on the same day. I am asking the Core Team to have another look at the concerns and find a more gentle way of presenting them. In the meantime, may I reassure you that the notice will not be placed at the back of the church or on our website.

Regarding the Letter: My thanks to the many of you who have said encouraging and positive things about my letter, but please remember that I wish it to be the catalyst for a wide-ranging conversation among yourselves and with me about the future.

Fr Jim Casey’s ‘BE Alive’ article. By popular demand I have been asked to make this available because it has proved such a help to many of you struggling with health problems and hospitalisation. Copies are available at the back of the church this weekend.

Comings and Goings: Fr Andrew is away this weekend and next weekend with Marriage Encounter. Bro William has had a short spell in hospital this week, but is recovering well. I almost had to dash to Scotland this week to give a priests’ retreat for Fr Denis McBride because of the grave illness of one of our priests, Fr Terry Creech. Happily another solution has been found, but it is further reminder of the constraints under which we are all working. We will keep Fr Terry and all our sick confrères and parishioners in our prayers.

  • Saturday 21 October: Sacristans;
