Notre Dame Sisters: It is with great sadness that we say ‘Goodbye’ to the community at 285, Woolton Road (opposite Bishop Eton). This has all happened rather suddenly in the wake of a fire safety inspection.

On behalf of all of us I wish to thank the sisters for all they have contributed to life of the parish. The community was formed in 1980 and has been in the present building since 1987. Sr Jo is moving down the road to 266; Kathleen and Ruth are going to Parbold; Phil, Marie Thérèse and Dorothy are going to Birkdale and Sr Charlie is staying in the university complex. We assure them of our prayers and good wishes for the future.

Comings and goings: Fr Charles and I will be away with the Pastoral Area clergy for meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday. Fr Andrew is with Marriage Encounter this weekend. Fr Michael Henesy and Fr Kevin Callaghan are returning from time away with their families and Bro William has returned after over a week in Broadgreen Hospital and is making good progress.

The Open Letter: Thank you for the considerable feedback already. One of the key questions being asked is how do we organise forums for the wider conversation. I am open to suggestions.

Parish Office: From this Monday, Hayley Metcalfe is taking over the majority of hours in the office: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9.00am to 3.00pm. Kris Reeds will continue supporting us a few hours each week.

Next Sunday 22 October is World Mission Sunday which is a chance to support missionaries and the Church in proclaiming the Gospel of peace to those who suffer around the world. RYM: Retreat Day to Pantasaph on Saturday 28 October.

18-40 year olds (or thereabouts!) are welcome to join us for a quiet retreat day in the beautiful north Welsh countryside, just one hour's drive from Bishop Eton. We will be able to pray together, spend time in silence, go to Mass, have lunch and get to know each other a bit more.

We will be attending the vigil Mass at 4pm. Confessions available at 11.30, and we'll have lunch in the cafe on site together around 12:30.

The theme of the retreat is surrender to God.

The day is free of charge - just bring money for lunch, petrol contributions and donation for the collection at Mass! However, we will need to know numbers as soon as possible, to ensure we've got enough car space for everyone, so if you're interested let us know. We'll be departing from Bishop Eton at 10am, and if you can offer space in your car, or will require a lift from someone else, please let us know.
