THE PASTORAL AREA: Fr Charles and I joined the other clergy from the pastoral area for an overnight meeting last week. In accordance with Archbishop Malcolm’s letter and my own ‘Open Letter’, we all want to have as wide a conversation with you as possible. Please do feel free to offer suggestions as to how we can effectively achieve this. In the meantime our efforts to pray together each month will continue. Please note that the next occasion will be on November 1, the Solemnity of All Saints. This time there will be a concelebration of Mass at 7.00pm in Hope University chapel and it will be the only evening Mass in the pastoral area for the Feast, which of course is a holiday of obligation.

Half-term: We wish the staff and pupils of our schools a good break in the coming week.

The Open Letter: I am trying to ensure that the letter has as wide a distribution as possible by sending it out through the schools (apologies to you if you now have a shelf full of them!). However, I am encouraged by the feed-back so far and hope that it will lead to renewal in many aspects of our parish life.

Altar Servers: Those of you who have returned the forms, expressing a wish to train as altar servers, please be assured that we will be in touch with you after half-term.

Today is World Mission Sunday which is a chance to support missionaries and the Church in proclaiming the Gospel of peace to those who suffer around the world.
