THE HOLY SOULS: Please forgive me for not reminding you that last Thursday was All Souls’ Day, but I am sure you will have remembered. Throughout the month of November one Mass each day will be celebrated by a member of the Redemptorist Community for all those whom you wish to be remembered and whose names you have placed in your November Lists.

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY is next Sunday (12th) and we will have the usual ceremony at the War Memorial after the 11.30am Mass.

Over the next few weeks we will try to collate your responses. 

Hopefully, by Christmas we will have a clearer idea of what practical steps we need to take. Meanwhile, I can only reiterate my delight in the many encouraging comments I am receiving not only from the parishioners of Bishop Eton and St Mary’s, but from as far away as a London parish.

ALTAR SERVERS: Fr Charles has the names of those who have volunteered to train as servers and will be liaising with you about practice sessions.

The Funeral of William Moretta RIP will take place on Monday 6 November at 12.00 noon.

In response to the Archbishop’s recent letter, the priests of our Pastoral Area recently met. Our discussions were focused on our shared mission here in the PA, and our three year journey together towards the Archdiocesan Synod 2020, of which next September’s 2018 Eucharistic Congress is an integral part. As a Pastoral Area, we are invited to send 40 delegates to the Congress, more information will soon follow.

LAMP collection TODAY. There will a retiring collection after all Masses.

Therefore the SVP monthly collection will take place next Sunday 12 November. Food donations for Food Bank also welcome.



Parish Coffee Morning TODAY after 10.00am Mass will be run by the Millenium Charity with Craft Goods on sale. Also, the Repository with all Profits going to Project Zimbabwe.


Wednesday Lunch will take place on 8 November at 12.30pm in the Fisher-More Hall. All welcome.


RYM Young Adult Group. 18-40 year olds are invited to a meeting on 7 November at 7.30pm in Fisher-More Hall.

Hi all! We're really excited about the next gathering of young Catholics in Liverpool.

We've got a lovely relfection planned to help us explore social justice and doing good as individuals and as a group. A very special guest, Brother Mike C.Ss.R will give a unique insight into his experiences as a prison chaplain, then we'll get to ask him any questions! 

This reflection will lead us in to a very special session next time, where we'll be going to feed the homeless - watch this space!

Of course we'll finish with a trip to the pub... or please respond if you'd rather do something else - we're thinking bowling?! Let us know!

Project Zimbabwe: Thanks for your support we raised £435.00 from the meal at Eton Place. The next event is a pig race on Saturday 20 January. Please save the date.

Benchmark Autumn Gig

Benchmark our in-house band performed a fundraising gig for Project Zimbabwe and then appeared at Childwall in Bloom. Their next gig will be on Friday 24th November. Admission will be free but there will be a collection for Friends of the Holy Land.  The group will perform some songs from their old set but with quite a number of new ones thrown in - plus a guest singer will appear.  Those of you who attend 10am or 6pm Mass will recognise many of the band.




A new board game from Redemptorist Publications

The game takes the form of a pilgrimage to Paradise and is aimed at ages 14 upwards.

With preparations under the way for Adoremus: National Eucharistic Pilgrimage and Congress Brother Royston Price C.Ss.R. explains the importance of the Eucharist.



Rooms are available for the 17/18 academic year at Christ the King student house in Mount Pleasant. RADS present Murdered to death

The Reformed Allerton Dramatic Society (RADS)

RADS group of talented amateurs’ next production is Murdered to Death - a comedy thriller by Peter Gordon - a hilarious spoof on the Agatha Christie genre. An assembled cast of delightful characters turn up following the mysterious death of the owner of a country Manor House. Will they all die before the bumbling local police inspectors and/or the well-meaning local sleuth unmask the murderer? 

The venue is the hall of the Allerton United Reformed Church (corner Mather Ave/Booker Ave)L18 7HD. 

Running from Wed 16th November - Sat 18th Nov 2017 inclusive, tickets (on the door) are £7, £6 concessions, and £3 children.

Doors open 7pm for curtain up at 7.30.

Jubilee Event: Mozart’s Requiem at the Metropolitan Cathedral

Wednesday 15th November 7.00pm - 9.00pm

Joining together in concert for the first time ever, the choirs of Westminster Cathedral and Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral combine to perform Mozart’s sublime Requiem.  Directed by the Cathedral Director of Music, Christopher McElroy, the choirs will be accompanied by the Liverpool Mozart Orchestra.

 Knanaya , Tamil or Ukranian Catholics

Archbishop Malcolm McMahon will host an evening for men who may be wondering if they are called to serve as deacons and what the formation involves. Wives and priests are also welcome. There will be two serving deacons and their wives sharing their different experiences. Refreshments from 7.00pm.

Are you living with dementia or caring for someone who is? Come and join the sing-a-long at St Thomas of Canterbury Parish Hall, Great Georges Road, Waterloo, 2.00pm-3.30pm on 15, 29 November and 13 December followed by afternoon tea and biscuits.

 CAFOD Power To Be:

Did you know one in six people are still living without electricity? CAFOD are meeting with World Bank Leaders this year to help change this. By joining CAFOD’s Power To Be campaign, you can speak up for local, renewable energy, and help shift this balance. You can sign the petition on the CAFOD website.

Ditching Fairtrade:

Sainsbury’s are replacing the Fairtrade certification with its own ‘Fairly Traded’ scheme for its Red Label tea. Campaigners are concerned that this scheme could result in a worse deal for farmers. To join the campaign, please sign the letter online at  

Volunteer Missionary Movement:

VMM are a Christian based develop-ment organisation locat-ed at Liverpool Hope University formed in 1969. They send volunteers throughout Africa to fight poverty. They have several openings for volunteers at their new Charity shop on Wavertree Road. All hours are flexible.

Notre Dame Memorial Mass:
