Redemptorist Lay Associates: Fr Maurice O’Mahony C.Ss.R. will speak at all the Masses this weekend to present the idea of Lay Associates. Those who are interested to learn more, please come to the Fisher More Hall at Bishop Eton at 3.00pm this Sunday (28 January).
The past week has been busy. Our Provincial Council visited the Redemptorist community at the beginning of the week and I attended sundry meetings in both parishes about a variety of things, but did manage to get a couple of days away, returning in time for the Parish Social Evening at St Mary’s on Friday. It has also been a difficult week for many. There was the distressing news that Kevin Fay (careers’ master) at SFX College died at the school on Monday morning. We pray for the repose of his soul and offer his wife, Kathy (deputy head), and the family our condolences and an assurance of our prayers for them. Likewise, we pray for the repose of the soul of Anthony, Fr Tony Hunt’s nephew, who had struggled all his life with health problems, and who died later that same day; and may his family be consoled and comforted.
Refugee Resettlement Programme: There was a wonderful response to the meeting last Tuesday evening. Thank you to all who are coming forward and offering their skills and expertise to ensure that this venture comes to fruition. At the same time, remember that we can all be involved in some way, including by our enthusiasm and prayerful support. Watch this space.
There is a dedicated section on the website to keep you up to date with the progress of this scheme. Please click here to access the main page

Some of the team are no longer able to help so it would be good to have some new volunteers to assist when they could. If you feel able to help at future events please put your name, telephone number or email address on the list at the back of the church or you can phone Cath Line on 722 3286.
In case you missed it - here is the article from January's BE Alive on the Hospitality Team
The Hospitality Team was formed after the parish awakening day in order to help the people of the parish to celebrate special feasts and events in the life of the parish community. We also aim to welcome visitors or new people to the parish. Light refreshments are usually served in the hall while providing the opportunity for people to meet, chat and celebrate together. Some of the events we have celebrated so far have been the Golden Jubilees of two of the clergy, special birthdays, feast days, the summer garden party and of course the Christmas Carol Services where people enjoy the mulled wine and mince pies and the chance to wish friends a happy Christmas.
I usually do the shopping for the events along with Sue Timmis and I then call on a team of volunteers to help serve the refreshments and tidy up afterwards. Some of the team are no longer able to help so it would be good to have some new volunteers to assist when they could. If you feel able to help at future events I would be grateful if you could put your name, telephone number or email address on a list
I will leave at the back of the church or you can ring me on 722 3286. Thank you. Catherine Line, Co-ordinator for the Hospitality Team
