ARCHBISHOP MALCOLM will make an official visit to the parish on Sunday, 18 of March. This should be a wonderful occasion for the parish. I hope we will have a good team of servers at each Mass, including a couple to help with the crozier and mitre. Also, please do take the opportunity to welcome the Archbishop after Mass over a cup of tea or coffee.
LEARNING TO SIGN THE MASS: Some of our young people will be learning to sign parts of the Mass before the evening Mass at St Mary’s on Saturday 10th March. If you wish to take part please go to the Parish Centre at St Mary’s at 4.00pm on that day.
COMINGS AND GOINGS: Fr Andrew is in Belgium for a Marriage Encounter meeting. Fr Barrie has been visiting his sister in Ripon for a couple of days, but should be back over the weekend. I am visiting Douai Abbey in Berkshire at the beginning of the coming week for a symposium on priests in religious orders working in parishes.
Gift Aid Envelops for 2018/19 will be available in the porch on Sundays 4 and 11 March. In recent years the offertory gift aid scheme has benefitted the parish by more than £20,000 annually, at no additional cost to the “members”. If you are a taxpayer and would like to participate please ask for details as you leave church today.
The Funeral of John McGrath RIP will take place on Friday 2 March at 12.00 noon.
J&P Youth Group will be meeting on Friday 2 March at 6.00pm in the Fisher-More Hall.
Holy Hour Adoration at 7.30pm on Friday 2 March. Please come and join us.
Friends of the Holy Land Mass for peace and justice for our fellow Christians in the Holy Land will take place on Saturday 3 March at 12.00 midday.
Parish Quiz Night next Saturday 3 March at 8.00pm for 8.30pm start. All welcome.
SVP monthly collection will take place after all Masses next weekend. Thank you for your generosity.
Parish Coffee Morning next Sunday after the 10.00am Mass.
Also, the Repository will be selling St Patrick’s Day, Mother’s Day and Easter cards. There will also be a selection of First Communion cards, Rosaries and Missals. Because of Easter there will only be one further Repository in May for the sale of First Communion items, but a selection will be available at the Monastery reception after Easter. All profits going to Project Zimbabwe.
RYM will be standing outside Bishop Eton Church at 3.00pm each day this week of Lent, inviting parents and children to pop into church & light a candle after school.

Stations of the Cross
St Mary's church will be open on Saturday 3rd March at 11am for anyone wishing to make a personal stations of the cross. In addition Our Lady of the Assumption in Gateacre is holding stations on the cross each Friday in Lent at 11.30.
Upcoming RYM events
RYM young adult group - Reflecting with Mary 6.3.2018
Join us for the second of our Lenten themed RYM sessions. This session will be a quiet candlelit reflection on Mary's journey with Jesus towards the cross. We will focus on the sorrowful mysteries, accompanied by appropriate and beautiful art, music, words and silence.
Please note, we're trying out a new venue - the Hughes room (about twenty steps away from our usual venue!)
Afterwards, we're going to have board games again
Reflection at the foot of the cross 20.3.18
Join us for the third of our Lenten themed RYM sessions. Our last session before Easter will be a short candlelit reflection at the foot of the cross. It will take place in Bishop Eton church.
Afterwards, we will go for a meal and drinks at the newly refurbished Childwall Abbey!

St Mark's Halewood

Readers Session at Our Lady's Gateacre
Fr Charles Randall will be leading a ses-sion for all readers on Saturday 3rd March 9.30am to 11.30am in the Romero Room at Our Lady of the Assumption in Gateacre. This is for all existing readers and all those who have come on board in recent times. Fr Charles will explore the importance of the ministry as well as give plenty of practical support. They are looking for volunteers to support their clients in the social aspects of their lives; it could be anything from spending an hour a week having a chat over a cuppa or to going along and helping staff to support a group out on a social trip. They are looking for everything from befrienders to drivers, the list is endless! WANT TO BE PART OF SOMETHING AMAZING?
In February 2017, a group from St Peter’s Church – Woolton visited a project in Curitiba, Brazil that they support. Encontro com Deus (ECD) works to rebuild lives and families impacted by, or at risk from domestic violence and abuse. Another trip is being planned for February 2019 and this time the intention is to build a group that includes people from other churches in the area.
