FROM FR TIM

LAETARE SUNDAY (Mothering Sunday): We are midway through Lent and the Church offers us a breather today. We wish all our mothers a very blessed day and hope you will be spoilt by your families.

ARCHBISHOP MALCOLM will celebrate all the Masses for us next Sunday. His visit to St Mary’s last weekend was a very happy occasion and I am sure it will be the same for us. If you wish to meet Archbishop Malcolm there will be coffee and tea served in the Fisher-More Hall after each Mass.

FEASTS: Thursday is the Feast of St Clement Hofbauer, always regarded as the second founder of the Redemptorists because he took the Congregation out of Italy and into northern Europe, from where we spread throughout the world. Saturday is of course the Feast of St Patrick.

RECONCILIATION:

There will be plenty of opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation before the Easter Triduum, which begins on Maundy Thursday.

There will be a Pastoral Area Reconciliation Service on Wednesday 21 March at 6.30pm in Hope University Chapel.

We will also have Reconciliation Services as usual in our two parishes at the beginning of Holy Week: Monday 26 March at 7.30pm in St Mary’s and Tuesday 27 March at 7.30pm in Bishop Eton.

Priests will be available after all the weekday Masses during the last two weeks of Lent and of course you may always call at the monastery and ask for a priest at any reasonable time on any  given day.

Also please pray for our children in Year Four who will be making their First Reconciliation next Sunday afternoon.

Children on the With You Always programme who do not attend Bishop Eton School are invited in preparation for their First Reconciliation, to a short session with me in the Hughes Room on Friday 16 March at 4.30pm.

PLANNED GIVING: The boxes for the next financial year may be collected today at the back of the church.

Car lifts: As you may know, Fr Jimmy Smale fell recently on his way to offer the 11.00am Mass at Christopher Grange. If there is anyone who may be able to offer him a lift for the 11.00am weekday Masses (Monday to Thursday), he will be very grateful. Please contact the parish office.

Fr Charles will be away this coming week.

Dementia Prayer Week:Please pray for those living with the illness and those who care for them. Leaflets are available in the porch.

The Funeral of Joanne Gaul RIP will take place on Wednesday 14 March at 12 noon.

Nugent Annual Collection will take place after Masses today. Gift Aid envelopes are available in the porch.

Wednesday Lunch will take place on 14 March at 12.30pm in the Fisher-More Hall. All welcome.
