FROM FR TIM
THE NOVENA FOR OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL SUCCOUR: Thank you for supporting this wonderful event in such great numbers. On your behalf, I thank Fr Charlie Corrigan and Brothers Michael and Royston for all their efforts, which I know will continue to bear fruit in many ways. For myself, I can only reiterate what I said last weekend: the experience in Clapham was utterly rewarding. I found the experience of returning to the place of my birth and upbringing and being able to share and minister far more moving than I had anticipated.

COMINGS AND GOINGS:
Fr Andrew has returned from the Marriage Encounter Council meeting in Italy.
I will be away again for the first part of this week, this time in Hampshire, facilitating a meeting of the Catholic military chaplains. When I return we will be in the last phase of the academic year, so I look forward to celebrating the remaining Leavers’ Masses and ensuring that we tie up all the ends successfully before the summer holidays.
Please continue to pray for Fr Tony Hunt, who has had another few days in hospital during the past week because of an infection. Fr John Milcz is now in the Marie Curie Hospice and Fr Barrie O’Toole remains with his sister in Ripon.
Visiting Fr John Milcz: Thank you for your love and care for Fr John, due to his illness he is very tired and needs plenty of rest. For this reason, the Hospice has asked us to coordinate a schedule of visitors. If you would like to visit we ask that you leave your name and number at the monastery reception.

Pastoral Area Prayer:
This Wednesday4th July at 6 pm in Hope Chapel. Evening Prayer and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. A time to receive and be still in God's presence. All welcome.
At the Whitechapel Centre, homeless people are able to take a shower and wash their clothes. However, a lot of the time their underwear, socks and trainers have to be thrown away. The Whitechapel Centre would be very grateful for any donations of men's and women's underwear (smaller sizes), socks and trainers especially size 5/6 women or size 9 men).
Also although we all enjoy the sunshine it can lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion and sun stroke for people who are rough sleeping. The Whitechapel centre would welcome donations of bottled water and sun cream for us to distribute to their clients. Thank you!
Pope Francis: Reflections on The Joy of Love (Amoris Laetitia)
Each week we will be providing an excerpt on the Pope's letter for you to read and reflect on. The reflections have been made available by the Archdiocese’s Adult Faith Formation department.
"Families who lovingly accept the difficult trial of a child with special needs are greatly to be admired. They render the Church and society an invaluable witness of faithfulness to the gift of life. In these situations, the family can discover, together with the Christian community new approaches, new ways of acting, a different way of understanding and identifying with others, by welcoming and caring for the mystery of the frailty of human life."
(Amoris Laetitia 47)
This week as a family share what life may be like for someone you may know or in your family/school/parish who has a disability or learning difficulty and what you as a family can do to make a difference. You might like to reflect upon how as parents we enable our children to see a person’s abilities rather than disabilities?

Perfumed Rosary Beads
St John Vianney’s Parish Sister, Sister Mary, who is now housebound, makes ‘real’ Rosary beads from real rose petals thus producing perfumed beads. She buys the accessories from overseas and then takes a couple of months preparing the crushed rose petals, until ready for beading. Sister then hand assembles the beads, the chains and crucifix complete with their presentation box, they are so blessed! Sister produces these to help raise much needed funds for those in Bangladesh who have had their villages and churches destroyed by floods. A set costs £10 and are available by ringing the Parish Office of St John Vianney, Halewood.
