FROM FR TIM
CHRIST THE KING:
We rejoice in this great feast today and pray in a special way for all our young people and the future of the Church, which will be in their hands.
THE SYNOD AND OUR OPEN MEETING:
Last Monday evening we had what I thought was a very fruitful meeting. Certainly, those of you who shared the evening left energised and as so often happens when we are genuinely open to the promptings of the Spirit, I believe even the tensions have provided the catalyst for new initiatives. I will explain what I mean more fully when I write my piece for BE Alive next weekend.
If you didn't pick up a copy of the questionnaire results you can download them by clicking here.
Selecting our Synod member:
In my dreams, I had hoped that we might be able to select our parish representative for the Diocesan Synod last Monday, but it would have been rushed and unsatisfactory. Nevertheless, time is at a premium because names need to be submitted to the Archdiocese by mid-December and we have a deanery meeting to finalise matters on 4 December.
If you are interested or wish to nominate someone else, please have your application with us by midnight next Thursday!
Then we can provide you with the information you will need for voting next weekend.
Role descriptions and application forms are at the back of the church this weekend.
You can download an editable version of the application form by clicking here.
You can read the description of a SYNOD Member on the SYNOD website click here
Please remember that we also need to co-operate in finding 8 other members from the Pastoral Area and in an attempt to ensure that everyone is represented these are to be selected from particular categories, including those involved in education, the caring professions and most notably the young. We will be looking for two people, aged between 15 and 25 years of age. Again, if you would like to be considered, please inform Hayley in the office during the coming week.
On sale now in the porch £1.60 each.

Items not in the Paper Version of the Bulletin.
Today is Youth Sunday, the theme for this year is #justonefilter. The aim is to get young people to consider what aspects of their life they apply filters to, and to see that the only filter that allows us to be true to ourselves is the filter of God's love.
There will be a retiring collection for Animate (the Archdiocese's youth ministry)

SYNOD 2020 what you need to know
SYNOD 2020 Process overview:
- Oct 2017 – Sept 2018 – time of prayer.
- 2018 – Sept 2019 - time of listening and discernment.
- Oct 2019 – Oct 2020 – themes to be developed into proposals to be voted on at the Synod in October 2020.
Each priest in active ministry will be a member and each parish will elect a synod member.
Each Pastoral Area will have 8 members. All in all, the Synod will have 500 members with voting rights.
Members will be trained in discernment and go back to their parishes to listen to the concerns, needs, and reflections of their local community. From these conversations around the diocese, the themes of the Synod will emerge and Members will take these back to their local community where they will begin to be formulated into the concrete proposals that the Synod will vote upon.
The Pastoral Development Group have been looking at a Parish Synod member, a parish Synod Group and Pastoral Area Synod members. Please keep all this in your prayers.

Pope Francis: Reflections on The Joy of Love (Amoris Laetitia)
Each week we will be providing an excerpt on the Pope's letter for you to read and reflect on. The reflections have been made available by the Archdiocese’s Adult Faith Formation department.
"When children or adolescents are not helped to realise that some things have to be waited for, they become obsessed with satisfying their immediate needs and develop the vice of 'wanting it all now'."
(Amoris Laetitia 275)
Learning to wait for things, in other words having patience, is an important life lesson. In what ways can you help foster in your children an appreciation of and sense of contentment with what they have.?
PARISH VOLUNTEERS PLEASE NOTE:
Kevin Harvey (Archdiocesan H&S Officer) flagged up an issue that has arisen in some parishes around the archdiocese. There have been instances of parishioners who have had traffic incidents travelling to and from church and their insurers have not settled the claim due to being unaware of the drivers’ voluntary duties. If you do any regular jobs at, or on behalf of the church (e.g. cleaning, counting money, Eucharistic Ministers visiting the sick and housebound etc.) and you use your car, please inform your motor insurers that you do voluntary work at church. There should be no increase in your premium, but it is still advisable to inform them. Thank you

Animate… Inspiring Life and Soul
Animate is the Youth Service of the Archdiocese of Liverpool and was set up as a response to people in the Diocese naming Youth Ministry as one of their top 3 priorities to be addressed. It was decided that the best way to address Youth Ministry in our Diocese was to set up a team of young people who could minister to other young people.
Each month they run a ‘Life and Soul’ service. It consists of a period of Adoration accompanied by modern and traditional hymns.
The next session will be held on
