FROM FR TIM
Thank you for your good example thus far.
Many of you made the effort to come to Mass on Ash Wednesday and the children in both our Primary Schools had a short service. I was most impressed that they had been so well prepared for this special season in the Church’s calendar and knew exactly what it is all about.
Also, it was noticeable that the 7:00am Masses in both parishes on Friday were extremely well attended.
Today the Archbishop has written a very thoughtful and honest Pastoral Letter, which I am sure will inspire you to look to the future with renewed hope.
JOURNEY IN FAITH
Our candidates for reception into full communion with us at Easter will be presented to Archbishop Malcolm in the Cathedral this Sunday afternoon. Please pray for them in these final weeks of their journey.
FR BARRIE O’TOOLE
We have just been informed that Fr Barrie’s condition has taken a serious turn for the worse and so we ask your prayers for him at this time. He remains with his sister, Pat, in Ripon.
COMINGS AND GOINGS
Fr Charles is due to give a parish mission with Fr Charlie Corrigan in Norbury (South London) later in Lent and is away this weekend preparing the way.
I made a mistake in last week’s bulletin, thinking Fr Andrew would be in Dover with Marriage Encounter this weekend. In fact he guided a morning of recollection in St Mary’s on Saturday. However, he will be away on Redemptorist business for most of the coming week.
RAYMOND EDWARDS RIP
The Funeral of Raymond Edwards RIP will take place on Monday 11 March at 12.00 noon.

First Sunday of Lent (Deuteronomy 26:4-10; Romans 10:8-13; Luke 4:1-13)
We seek each other
Today’s Gospel reminds us that there is more to our life as married couples than we see. Our desire for each other has a deeper yearning – to be loved and accepted for who we are. In this season of Lent let us be led by the Spirit to resist the temptation to lead individual and separate lives within our marriages.
