FROM FR TIM

THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION:

We come to the last two weeks of Lent and the countdown to Easter.

Once again I wish to give you every opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation if you wish. Therefore, we will try to provide confessors after the weekday Masses as well as celebrate our community acts of sorrow with the Reconciliation Services on the Monday (St Mary’s) and Tuesday (Bishop Eton) of Holy Week.

Please read my thoughts on all this in the article I have written for this month’s BE Alive.

candleNEXT FRIDAY 12 APRIL:

The Bishops of England and Wales have designated this as a day of prayer for victims and survivors of sexual abuse in the Church. (Reflections, prayer and intercessions are available on the Bishop Conference's website click here.)

I commend to you the early Mass at 7.00am (the noon Mass is a funeral) and also the Holy Hour at St Mary’s between 6.00pm and 7.00pm, which will focus on this intention.

COMINGS AND GOINGS:

Specification: 60cm x 60cm, any colours, any wools. Blankets are given to each patient at Marie Curie by the chaplain.

Faith in Action Scheme:

The National scheme has grown in strength and numbers since it was launched two years ago. This year 1100 young people are taking part. To assist with the award they are looking for individuals who might have a few hours free in May/June to help moderate the work the young people have done.

you will require no specific background in teaching, youth work, or religious studies: they are simply looking for people who can spend time looking at pieces of work and writing a short affirmation of the work the young person has done.

Moderation can be done in your own home and in your own time. If you would like more information, please contact Fr Simon Gore on 01744 740 467/ 01744 740 460 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Marriage Matters Reflections for this week

A Reflection from Marriage Matters (www.twoinoneflesh.org.uk) for this Sunday

Fifth Sunday of Lent (Isaiah 43:16-21; Philippians 3:8-14; John 8:1-11)

 Let joy fill our hearts

Today is the first day of the rest of our lives! It is vital that we don’t carry past hurts with us, and are able to forgive and move on. We need to look at our faults and failings and seek forgiveness of each other first. This gives life and hope for our relationship. Let us strive for perfection – together.
